WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. – One day after taking first place in the 100 yard butterfly, Bentley University junior George Go (Manila, Philippines) captured his second gold medal of the weekend when he turned in a winning swim in the 50 butterfly Saturday night during the second day of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships at the Upper Aquatic Center.

Go's effort helped Bentley finish the day in second place in the team standings, the Falcons' total of 587 points put them 36 back of first-place Keene State University heading into Sunday's final round of competition.  A total of 13 teams are competing in the annual three-day event.

Go won the 50 fly in 23.47 seconds, missing the school record by just a hundredth of a second. It was the third career individual gold for Go, who won the 50 backstroke a year ago.

While Go didn't take ownership of the school record in the 50 fly, he earned two while helping Bentley take the silver in the 200 medley relay. His leadoff time of 24.20 broke his own Bentley standard by 0.29 seconds, and he combined with freshman Connor Mulvey-Hudson (Ardmore, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep), sophomore Peter Belanger (Andover, Mass./Andover HS) and senior Joe Frantel (Canandaigua, N.Y./Marcus Whitman HS) for a school record time of 1:35.23, an improvement of 1.32 seconds on the former record.

Bentley's other silver medals earned Saturday came from senior Patrick Ryan (Sudbury, Mass./ Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS) in the 100 backstroke (53.12) and junior Tyler Champagne (Orange, Conn./ Amity Regional HS) in the 1000 free (10:03.83).

The Falcons also made two trips to the medal platform to pick up bronze medals. Freshman Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS) was third in the 100 back (54.27), and Bentley was also third in the 800 free relay with the quartet of Champagne, senior Erik Stricker (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central HS), freshman Luke Mason (Lowell, Mass./Lowell HS) and Frantel combining for a time of 7:13.88.

Just missing out on medals were Belanger in the 400 individual medley (4:22.21) and Frantel in the 200 free (1:47.45).  Both finished fourth in their respective events.

Sunday's action gets underway with prelims at 10 am and finals at 5:30 pm.
