Walsh Wins Twice & Sets School Record in Bentley’s Loss to Keene State

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) won both diving events, setting a school record off the one-meter board in the process, but it wasn't enough as the Falcons dropped a 171-118 decision to Keene State College in men's swimming and diving action Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

Keene State captured all 14 swimming events while handing Bentley just its second loss in eight dual meets this season.

Walsh posted a score of 295.65 off the one-meter, his effort bettering the school record set by Jon Andrews in November 2008 by 0.22 points.  His winning performance in the three-meter was a score of 249.90.

Bentley had four individual second-place finishes in the meet.  Those were posted by senior Patrick Ryan (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS) in the 100 yard backstroke (57.23 seconds), sophomore Phillip Chan (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier HS) in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.64), freshman Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS) in the 200 back (2:06.60) and junior Tyler Champagne (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional HS) in the 500 free (5:07.29).

Keene State was led by freshman Randall Dunton (St. Cloud, Fla.) and sophomore Drew Ledwith (Keene, N.H.), each of whom won three events and participated on a winning relay.

Bentley wraps up its dual schedule Tuesday night at Bridgewater State.
