Wilde, Walsh Represent Bentley in NCAA Pre-Qualfying Meet

Sophomore Paige Wilde (Naugatuck, Conn.) and senior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) represented Bentley University Tuesday when the NCAA Division II pre-qualifying diving meet was held at the Mansfield ISD Natatorium.
Hodsdon, Wilde & Walsh to Represent Bentley in NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships

Bentley University junior All-America Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/ Brewer HS) will make her second straight appearance in the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships, with this year’s event being held in Mansfield, Texas March 14-17. Also making the trip to Texas will be Bentley divers Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS), a senior, and Paige Wilde (Naugatuck, Conn./Holy Cross HS), a freshman. They have earned the right to compete in a pre-qualifying meet on March 13.

Bentley University junior George Go (Manila, Philippines) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week on Monday, and the conference’s Rookie of the Week Awards went to Bentley freshmen Nadine Edwards (Danbury, Conn./Danbury HS) and Connor Mulvey-Hudson (Ardmore, Pa./St. Joseph’s Prep).

Junior George Go (Manila, Philippines) captured his third gold medal of the weekend and led a Falcon domination in the 50 yard backstroke as Bentley University edged out Keene State College for the men’s swimming crown in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships that concluded Sunday night at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center.

In the men’s competition, Bentley senior Michael Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) was recognized with the Senior Male Diver Award after his second straight fourth-place finish. He accumulated 329.90 points off the three-meter, with UMass-Dartmouth’s Christian Francia claiming gold with an impressive 475.10.

On the men’s side, only 7.35 points separated the top four with Christian Francis of UMass-Dartmouth claiming victory with a 402.45. Bentley senior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS), who won both diving events at last week’s Northeast-10 Championships, was fourth in the eight-man competition, posting a 395.10.
