ALBANY, N.Y. -- Bentley University junior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) broke the school record for 11 dives, but the Falcon men's swimming and diving team came up just short, falling to the College of Saint Rose 122-115 Sunday afternoon at Albany Academy.

Saint Rose rallied from a seven-point deficit with two events remaining to hand the Falcons their first loss after six wins. Down 104-97 after 11 events, the Golden Knights had the top two finishers in the 200 yard butterfly to take a 111-109 advantage and locked up the victory with a winning effort in the 200 freestyle relay. They edged the Bentley quartet by 0.80 seconds with Bryan Shaver's 21.63 clocking in the third leg the difference.

Walsh, who captured the second one-meter diving event after finishing second to senior teammate Jon Andrews (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug HS) in the first, had a combined score of 435.35 in the two.  That broke the school record of 431.10 that Andrews had owned since November 2007.

Bentley opened the meet on a successful note with sophomore George Go (Manila, Philippines), freshman Phillip Chan (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier HS), senior Egen Ouellette (West Hartford, Conn./Conard HS) and freshman Steve Sylvia (Westerly, R.I./Westerly HS) winning the 200 medley relay in 1:41.62.

With the exception of the diving, Bentley would win only one more event the rest of the way, with Ouellette capturing the 100 freestyle in 50.04 seconds.

Sophomore Tyler Champagne (Orange, Conn./Amity Reg. HS) had two of Bentley's seven second-place finishes, with times of 10:51.36 in the 1000 free and 5:12.17 in the 500 free.

Bentley is back at home on Wednesday for a 6 pm meet against Babson College.
