Maldarella Named NE10 Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week

Waltham, Mass. – Bentley University's Nick Maldarella (Saint James, N.Y./St. John's) was named the NE10 Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday.

Maldarella helped the Falcons to a big 2-1 win over Franklin Pierce on Saturday, which pushed them into a second place tie in the NE10 standings with the Ravens. Both teams have 18 points, though Bentley has played one less game.

Maldarella made six saves in the win over Franklin Pierce, several of which denied excellent scoring chances from close range. He also claimed a number of crosses into the box to further prevent scoring chances.

The senior, who is in his first season as the team's starting goalkeeper and was a kicker on the Bentley football team as a freshman and sophomore, has been having an excellent season. He is currently second in the NE10 in both save percentage (.813) and total saves (61), and is tied for the NE10 lead with eight wins.

During Bentley's current four game winning streak, he has made 24 saves and is sporting a 0.71 GAA and .889 save percentage.

Bentley (8-3, 6-1 NE10) has another big game coming up this week. On Wednesday they travel down to Adelphi. With 19 points the Panthers lead Bentley in the standings by just one point.
