Bentley Wins Third Straight, 2-1 over AIC

Waltham, Mass. – Senior Julian Stewart (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro) scored the go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute and Bentley came up with some big defensive stops late to earn a 2-1 victory over American International on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Connor Mote (Lisle, Ill./Benet) scored in the first half, his 5th this season and 4th game in a row with a goal. He also assisted on Stewart's goal and has 13 points on the season.

Leading 2-1 late, Bentley came up with several big defensive stops in the final minutes to preserve the lead. Jack Murray (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) made an important clearance off an AIC corner kick. Bentley defenders blocked two other AIC shots, and goalkeeper Nick Maldarella (Saint James, N.Y./St. John) made a save in the 84th minute.

Stewart's goal to give Bentley the lead came off a free kick that Mote delivered from outside the box, and Stewart headed it from 12 yards to the far post for the goal.

In the first half, AIC went in front in the 11th minute on a goal by Tobias Paulsen. Bentley though responded five minutes later on a goal by Mote. Sophomore Ronan Fitzpatrick (Coventry, Conn./East Catholic) sent a cross in from long distance that Mote headed to the far post from 15 yards out to tie the score.

Bentley (4-2-0, 2-0-0) has now won three straight and its first two NE10 games of the season. They have now gone 13 matches unbeaten in a row at home at 9-0-4.

The next game is Wednesday at Southern New Hampshire.
