Bentley, Saint Anselm Play to 1-1 Tie

Manchester, N.H. – Bentley and Saint Anselm played to a 1-1 tie on Tuesday afternoon up in New Hampshire. The match was delayed 2:18 into the first overtime due to weather, and eventually declared a tie.

The result moved Bentley's Northeast-10 record to 4-5-3 for 15 points with one match remaining in the regular season, which is Friday at Le Moyne at 3:00 pm. Bentley will still have a chance to qualify for the NE10 playoffs going into the final day.

Both of the goals in this game occurred in the second half after a scoreless first 45 minutes, though Bentley created the best chance in the first half after junior Julian Stewart (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro) hit the post in the 30th minute.

Saint Anselm took the lead in the 52nd minute on a goal by Michael Budrewicz. Winger Zach Elliot got the goal started with a run down the right, which was broken up by a Bentley player once he got into the 18 yard box. The ball fell to Budrewicz, who scored from about 15 yards out to the far post.

Bentley though responded with a goal by freshman Harrison Bourgeois (Maynard, Mass./Maynard) in the 63rd minute, his second goal in as many games. Sophomore center back Adam Watkins (McConnells, S.C./Clover) set the goal up with a dangerous ball in the box from about 35 yards away that got through the Hawks' defense. Bourgeois ran on to it and fired a low shot to the far post for the goal.

Neither team could score over the remaining 27 minutes and the match went into overtime, where after a little more than two minutes played the match was delayed due to weather and eventually called a tie.
