Bentley Tops New Haven 1-0 on Archambault’s Goal

Waltham, Mass. – Sophomore midfielder Kyle Archambault (Uxbridge, Mass./St. John's) scored just 31 seconds after halftime as the Bentley men's soccer team went on to defeat New Haven 1-0 on Sunday afternoon on the team's Senior Day.

The win improved Bentley's Northeast-10 record to 3-5-1 on the season, giving them 10 points with four matches remaining in the regular season.

Just after the halftime restart, Bentley created a nice team goal that ended with Archambault's first goal of the season. Sophomore Jackson Fotter (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) got the play started by playing a pass to Julian Stewart (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro), who dribbled to the edge of the 18 yard box before he played a pass off to sophomore Connor Mote (Lisle, Ill./Benet) to the left. Mote then made a centering pass to Matt Tidona (Bellmore, N.Y./Friends Academy), who then quickly flicked a pass over to Archambault on the near post, giving him a close range finish over Chargers goalkeeper Stefano Lorusso.

That was the only goal needed, as the Bentley defense, led by center back Kevin Williams (Wilmington, Del./ Salesianum School) and goalkeeper David Price (Needham, Mass./Beaver Country), closed out the rest of the game for its second clean sheet of the season.

Bentley will head into next week just two points out of a playoff spot in the NE10.

Prior to the match, the team's five seniors, Williams, Price, Chris Caso (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon), Charlie Lopez (Madrid, Spain) and Fernando Romero (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) were recognized for their contributions to the men's soccer program.

Bentley's next match, its final at home in the regular season, is on Wednesday against Southern New Hampshire at 3:00 pm.
