North Andover, Mass. - Junior Alec Foster (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) scored two goals to lead the Bentley men's soccer team to a 4-2 win over Molloy in the team's season opening game at the Merrimack Kickoff Classic on Friday afternoon.
Foster first struck just before halftime, in the 45th minute, to give Bentley a 2-1 lead, then finished off the scoring in the 88th minute to pad the lead to 4-2.
Senior forward Julian Stewart (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro) picked up where he left off from last season with a goal in the 30th minute, which cancelled out an early goal by Molloy's Anthony Cestaro to level the score 1-1.
Molloy tied the score at 2-2 with a goal from junior Nikola Aleksic 2:51 into the second half. But a goal for the Falcons from junior Nick Halliday (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton High), unassisted in the 74th minute, proved to be the game winner to give them a 3-2 lead.
Foster then padded the lead with his second of the afternoon, with junior Matt Tidona (Bellmore, N.Y./Friends Academy) on the assist.
Bentley will look to make it a 2-0 start to the season on Sunday when they take on Caldwell to conclude the Kickoff Classic.
