Stewart, Watkins Earn NE10 All-Conference Recognition

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Northeast-10 on Thursday announced that Bentley's Julian Stewart (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro) and Adam Watkins (McConnells, S.C./Clover) have been named to the 2017 Men's Soccer All-Conference teams.

Stewart, a forward, was voted second team All-Conference. Watkins, a freshman center back, was voted to the All-Rookie team. The voting is done by the conference's 14 head coaches and is based on the regular season.

Stewart had seven goals and four assists for 18 points, which led the team in each category. He was a big part of Bentley's late season run to the postseason that saw them win their final three regular season games and five of six. Six of his seven goals were scored and two of his assists were recorded over the season's final month.

He was named the NE10 Player of the Week for the final week of the season. In the two games that week, he scored and also set up Sean Sullivan's winning goal in overtime in a 2-1 win over Saint Anselm, then scored the first goal in the team's 2-1 victory over Le Moyne that clinched a playoff spot.

Watkins started all 16 regular season games, usually at center back. He rarely left the field, as he led the team in minutes played (1429) and averaged 89 minutes per game. He also contributed offensively, with a goal just before halftime in the team's 2-1 win over AIC on Oct. 21, and also had the assist on Stewart's goal against Le Moyne.

Both featured prominently in Bentley's 2-1 upset of Adelphi in the NE10 quarterfinals on Tuesday night. Stewart scored both goals, and Watkins started at center back and played all 90 minutes.

Bentley will now take on Le Moyne in the semifinals on Friday in Syracuse at 1:00 pm.
