WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior Julian Stewart (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro) scored a spectacular bicycle kick goal in the 62nd minute to highlight the Bentley men's soccer team's 2-1 win over Stonehill on Tuesday afternoon.
The goal got started after Bentley won the ball back in its own end. Eric Morra (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) gained possession and passed back to senior Dan Anderson (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) deep on the right wing. Anderson then played in a beautiful ball into the penalty area. Stewart, who had is back to a Stonehill defender, rose up and unleashed the bicycle kick that beat the Stonehill keeper to the far post for the goal.
That gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead. They lead 1-0 at halftime after midfielder Jake Goldstein (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) poked home a shot off a rebound off his own shot.
The Skyhawks climbed back in it with a goal in the 72nd minute, but the Falcons closed out the match to claim the victory.
Goalkeeper Harrison Rapant (Pittsfield, Mass./Pittsfield) made six save to earn the win.
Bentley will go for its third game unbeaten in a row on Friday when they visit New Haven.
