Bentley Ties With Roberts Wesleyan in Non-Conference Road Match

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior goalie Liam McCarthy (Northborugh, Mass./Algonquin Regional) made nine saves and junior Sean Sullivan (Suffield, Conn./Suffield HS) had the goal, as the Bentley University men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie on the road with Roberts Wesleyan in a non-conference match on Saturday.

Bentley fell behind in the 22nd minute as the home side when in front on a goal by midfielder Sam Moody. The goal came when Moody headed in a cross from midfielder John Stewart, which came in from the right wing.

The Falcons though battled back. The knotted the match 1-1 in the 66th minute when Sullivan converted from the penalty spot for this 2nd goal of the season.

Following that goal, each team had chances on goal. McCarthy made three of his nine saves over the remainder of the match. Bentley's Eric Spangler (Lafayette, Colo./Centaurus HS) had a shot saved with just two seconds left in regulation. Sullivan had a shot on goal saved in the 94th minute, and freshman Brady Levesque (Portland, Maine/Cheverus HS) saw a shot hit the crossbar in the 99th minute.

With its final non-conference match in the books, Bentley will return to Northeast-10 play for their next match, which is Tuesday at Adelphi.
