Men’s Soccer Falls to Post in Season Opener 2-0

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – A goal in each half saw Post University defeat the Bentley men's soccer team 2-0 in the season opener for both schools at the Kickoff Classic, hosted by Merrimack in North Andover.

The Eagles threatened early with a shot by forward Matteo Moro that went off the crossbar in the 8th minute. Post kept the offensive pressure up, and knocked in its first goal on a header by senior midfielder Abdallah Bah in the 32nd minute. The goal was setup after senior midfielder Patrick DeAngelo chased down the ball before it went out of bounds on the right sideline. DeAngelo then sent in a long cross into the box from the right wing, that saw Bah rise up for and head into the back of the net.

Falcons sophomore goalie Harrison Rapant (Pittsfield, Mass./Pittsfield) was on his game early though in his Bentley debut, as he made five saves in the opening 45 minutes.

Post though doubled its lead in the 53rd minute as Bah was involved again. With the Eagles breaking into the offensive end, Bah fed a pass from the left wing to junior midfielder Armando Filho at the top of the penalty area, who had space to get off his shot that found its way into the upper left corner of the net.

Rapant finished the night with seven saves, while his counterpart Jon Hanlon earned the win.

Bentley will play its second match of the Kickoff Classic on Saturday against Caldwell at 12:00 pm.
