Bentley Earns Key Win Over Le Moyne, 2-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley men's soccer team picked up a big Northeast-10 win on Saturday as they topped Le Moyne 2-1 behind goals from midfielders Forrest Scaringe (Cohoes, N.Y./CBA) and Nick Hoffman (East Brookfield, Mass./Quabbin).

Le Moyne struck first in just the 9th minute on a goal by forward Fabian Egger. Midfielder Marcello Palucci got the play started with a touch at the top of the penalty area that went on to Egger. Egger dribbled into the box unmarked and scored from six yards out to give the Dolphins a 1-0 lead.

Bentley though began to settle into the game and found the equalizing goal from Scaringe, his second goal of the season. The goal was set up by captain Scott Levy (Canton, Mass./Canton), the first of his two assists on the day.

Levy took a touch at the top of the penalty area and led Scaringe with a pass toward the net. Scaringe ran on to the ball and calmly slotted home to the far post to tie the game up in the 26th minute.

Bentley then took the lead just after halftime, in the 50th minute, as Levy was involved again, setting up Hoffman. Levy played a cross into the box from the right wing, and Hoffman fought off his marker to head the ball over the line to make it 2-1 for Bentley. The goal was Hoffman's third of the season.

The Falcons then saw off the game the rest of the way, as the defense and goalkeeper Jack Blatchford (Douglas, Mass./Douglas) preserved the lead. Blatchford made two of his four saves on the day after Hoffman's go-ahead goal.

Bentley improves to 4-3 in the NE-10 with the win, and is now level with Le Moyne with 12 points, which came into the day in 4th place in the NE-10.

The Falcons will go for their third straight win on Tuesday when they host Southern Connecticut for a 3:30 pm kickoff.
