Bentley Chosen 8th in Northeast-10 Preseason Poll

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Northeast-10 released its Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll on Monday and Bentley has been picked 8th in the 14-team league. The Falcons get their season started on Friday, Sept. 4 vs. Post University in North Andover, Mass.

Bentley will be looking to make it back to the NE-10 Playoffs this season after a one-year absence snapped a streak of six straight seasons of qualifying. The team's 30-man roster features 21 returnees from last season and nine freshmen, and will be captained by seniors Scott Levy (Canton, Mass./Canton) and Stephen Silva (Suffield, Conn./Suffield). Levy led the team in goals last season (6), while four other seniors return that started at least 16 matches; goalie Jack Blatchford (Douglas, Mass./Douglas), midfielders Marty Ryan (Albany, N.Y./Albany) and Nick Hoffman (East Brookfield, Mass./Quabbin) and center back Joe Avery (Schenectady, N.Y./Mohonasen).

The NE-10 coaches voted three-time defending conference champions Southern New Hampshire first, as the Penmen garnered 13 of 14 first-place votes. Southern Connecticut was picked second and garnered the other first place vote.

Following the top-two in the poll is Merrimack in third, Adelphi in fourth, Le Moyne in fifth, Franklin Pierce in sixth, Stonehill in seventh and Bentley in eighth. The top-eight teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the postseason.
