Levy & Silva To Captain 2015 Bentley Men’s Soccer Team; First Practice Thursday

WALTHAM, Mass. – Seniors Scott Levy (Canton, Mass./Canton) and Stephen Silva (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) will serve as captains of the 2015 Bentley men's soccer team, head coach Gary Crompton announced as his team prepares to hold its first official practice on Thursday morning.

"Scott Levy has been an extraordinary leader from his first days here on campus," said Crompton. "He is one of the hardest working, and most conscientious players that I have ever had the pleasure of working with in my 20 years of college coaching. Scott has the respect and admiration of his teammates and our staff for good reason."

"Stephen Silva has been one of the best all-around performers in our program over the last 3 seasons, he's a versatile player who can play just about any position on the field," Crompton continued. Last spring when Scott was studying abroad, Stephen stepped into the role as captain seamlessly and provided leadership and direction to our group. We improved and worked extremely hard last winter and spring and much of that success can be traced to Stephen's example. Both co-captains are potential league all-stars, but knowing their character, their only concern is the team's success and finishing their Bentley career's successfully."

Levy is a team captain for the second straight season after he shared captain duties of the 2014 side with Tom Fitzpatrick. He's the program's active career leader in both goals (15) and points (32), and has played in 49 matches with 34 starts in his three seasons in a Falcons uniform. Levy was named to the 2014 All-Northeast-10 third team, and to the conference's All-Academic team, after starting all 17 matches with six goals and two assists for 14 points. That followed up his 2013 campaign that saw him earn first team All-Conference honors after bagging eight goals in 15 matches as a sophomore.

Silva, who has lined up as both a back and midfielder during his career, has played in 46 career matches with 44 starts. He had a streak of 40 consecutive matches started, which began with just the second match of his collegiate career as a freshman and ended when he missed last season's home game against Le Moyne on Sept. 27 due to an injury. He started 16 straight matches in 2012, all 17 in the 2013 campaign and the first seven and final four matches of last season.

Bentley's entire 31-man squad has reported back to campus and will hold its first official practice on Thursday morning at Waltham High School. The team's first practice on campus will be Thursday afternoon at 3:00 pm, in preparation for the squad's season-opener on Friday, Sept. 4 against Post University in North Andover, Mass.
