WALTHAM, Mass. – After being held scoreless by the Bentley defense for more than 72 minutes, Southern New Hampshire, the top-ranked team in Division II men's soccer, erupted for three goals in less than three minutes on its way to a 4-0 victory over the Falcons in a Northeast-10 match on Wednesday.

The Penmen, also the defending Division II national champions, run their unbeaten streak to 37 with the victory over a game Bentley side that held them in check for a majority of the match.

Southern had the best chance of the first half to open the scoring. An open shot from 10 yards by senior Miguel Carneiro, who had three assists on the day, in the 25^th minute produced a fine diving leg save by Falcons keeper Jack Blatchford (Douglas, Mass./Douglas).

Bentley freshman Sean Sullivan (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) had a shot on goal saved by Penmen keeper Dom DiMaggio in the 31^st minute.

The Falcons did well to keep Southern off the scoreboard into the second half. Blatchford made a save on a shot by junior Dominic Samuel in the 53^rd minute, and a shot from junior Gilbert Manier from 30 yards out in the 66^th minute whistled just over the crossbar.

The Penmen though finally broke the resistance in the 72^nd minute on a goal by junior Sebastian Stezewski. Just 32 seconds later, Manier and Carneiro combined on a give-and-go, with Manier scoring, to make it 2-0. In the 75^th minute, midfielder Sofiane Tergou made it 3-0 after taking a feed from Carneiro and scoring with an eight-yard shot.

Southern improves to 13-0-1 overall and 10-0-1 in the NE-10 with the victory, while the Falcons' records drop to 4-9-1 and 3-6-1. The team's next match is Saturday at home against Adelphi. Kickoff is 10:00 am.
