WATERBURY, Conn. – Taking a temporary step out of Northeast-10 Conference action, the Bentley men's soccer team took on Post University out of the CACC on Wednesday afternoon, and suffered a 3-0 setback.
The two teams played last year in Waltham when Post was ranked No. 9 in Division II, and the Falcons battled them to a 1-1 draw on a goal by Marty Ryan (Albany, N.Y./Albany).
On this day, Bentley kept the Eagles off the scoreboard into the 64th minute, before the break through goal came from forward Raphael Moura. The goal was setup by a cross to the far post by forward Tiago Martins, which Moura headed in.
Post increased its lead to 2-0 in the 72nd minute on a goal by back Jacob Butler-Bowdon, who took advantage of a turnover in the penalty area. Forward Saamir Diarra added the Eagles' third goal in the 76th minute.
Post improves to 5-7 on the season with the victory, while the Falcons drop to 4-8-1. Bentley is off until next Wednesday when they host So. New Hampshire, currently ranked No. 1 in Division II, at 3:00 pm.
