WALTHAM, Mass. – Saint Michael's midfielder Thomas Antensaye scored just 1:14 into overtime to give the Purple Knights a 1-0 win over home standing Bentley in a Northeast-10 men's soccer match Wednesday afternoon.
In a mostly evenly played match in terms of shots and possession, the visitors converted the first chance of overtime to take the victory. Saint Michael's played a cross into the penalty area which was knocked down. Antensaye then sprung on the loose ball and fired off a shot from 12 yards that went in far post.
Bentley had its share of chances to score in regulation. An open shot by midfielder Nick Hoffman (East Brookfield, Conn./Quabbin) in the penalty area in the 11th minute when just wide. Just before halftime, forward Scott Levy (Canton, Mass./Canton) finished off a run with a shot that rolled just past the post.
Just after halftime, Hoffman centered a pass to Ryan in the box that Ryan teed up and fired on goal, only for it to hit the crossbar.
Saint Michael's improves to 3-4 in NE-10 with the victory, while the Falcons drop to 2-5-1. They return to the pitch on Saturday when they visit American International for a 1:00 pm start.
