Le Moyne Holds off Men’s Soccer 1-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – Le Moyne withstood sustained Bentley pressure over the final 20 minutes to hang on for a 1-0 win over the host Falcons in Northeast-10 men's soccer action Saturday afternoon.

Le Moyne (6-1, 3-1) had the game's first quality scoring chance in the 28th minute on a header by senior back Keleenna Onyeaka off a corner kick, but Bentley goalie Jack Blatchford (Douglas, Mass.) made a diving save to his left.

The Dolphins did break through just before halftime, as freshman Adam Resetarits scored on a 25 yard strike into the top shelf that Blatchford could do nothing about.

In search of the equalizer, Bentley turned up the pressure over the final 20 minutes. Freshman Evan Hassett (Glastonbury, Conn.) ripped a shot from 18 yards, only to be denied by Le Moyne keeper Ben Beaury. The rebound came loose and junior Chris Harkins (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) had a good look from close range, only to be stopped again by Beaury.

In the 76th minute, junior Nicholas Italia (Rocky Hill, Conn.) created a chance with a nice cross from the left wing to the far post that junior Marty Ryan (Albany, N.Y.) got on the end of, only for Beaury to come up with another save.

The Dolphins were able to hang on the rest of the way and send Bentley (2-5-1, 1-3-1) to its second straight 1-0 defeat.

Bentley is back in action on Tuesday night when they visit Franklin Pierce.
