Levy Scores Twice as Bentley Tops NYIT 3-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior forward Scott Levy (Canton, Mass./Canton) found the back of the net twice in the second half, as the Bentley men's soccer team defeated New York Tech in its home-opener 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Falcons overcame an early 1-0 deficit and scored three unanswered goals on their way to the team's first win of the season.

Tech jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute, after the ref awarded a penalty kick to the visitors after a Bentley foul in the box. Senior Ivan Rico converted it to give the Bears the lead.

But Bentley freshman Sean Sullivan (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) canceled it out with his first career goal, and Bentley's first goal of the season, in the 23rd minute off a nice give-and-go with Levy. Sullivan got the play started by forcing a turnover in midfield and quickly passed to Levy. The junior then passed back to Sullivan, whose shot from 10 yards out bounced into the right corner of the net.

Just 37 second after halftime a Bentley player was brought down in the box, giving them a penalty kick of their own. Levy took it and buried his shot past keeper Jonathan Rico for a 2-1 Falcons lead.

In the 55th minute Levy got on the score sheet again to give Bentley a comfortable 3-1 lead. Freshman Evan Hassett (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) recovered a loose ball in Bentley's attacking third and chipped a pass to Levy, whose strike from 12 yards found the back of the net.

Bentley outshot Tech 13-9 and 8-4 in shots on goal.

The Falcons head back on the road Saturday to face Southern Connecticut in the Northeast-10 opener.
