Four Men’s Soccer Players Earn Northeast-10 All-Conference Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Four players from the Bentley University men's soccer team were selected to the 2013 Northeast-10 All-Conference teams. Sophomore forward Scott Levy (Canton, Mass./Canton) was named first team All-Conference to highlight Bentley's honorees.

Sophomore midfielder Marty Ryan (Albany, N.Y./Albany), sophomore goalkeeper Jack Blatchford (Douglas, Mass./Douglas) and freshman midfielder Jose Tirado (Lima, Peru/FDR) were the other three Falcons to earn All-Conference honors. Ryan was voted to the second team, and both Blatchford and Tirado were named to the All-Rookie team.

Levy led the team in both goals (8) and points (16) this season despite missing two matches. He had three, two-goal performances, four match winning goals and Bentley was undefeated (5-0) when he scored this season. He had two goals each in wins over Queens (2-1), Le Moyne (2-0) and AIC (3-2). Against the Yellow Jackets, his goals in the 75th and 80th minutes helped Bentley rally from a 2-1 deficit.

Levy also scored in wins over Franklin Pierce (2-1) and Assumption (3-0). He's currently third in the Northeast-10 in goals and tied for fifth in points.

Ryan, an All-Rookie selection last season, led Bentley in assists (9) this season. He was also second on the squad in points (15) and tied for second in goals (3). Ryan is currently tied for 10th in Division II in assists, while leading the NE-10 in that category.

Ryan had five assists in a three-match span, all Bentley wins, from Sept. 28-Oct. 5. He then had a season-high three assists in the team's 3-2 win over AIC, which was the start of another three-match scoring streak. He had one goal each in the following two games.

Blatchford started the final 14 matches of the season in goal, and he posted a record of 7-6-1 overall. He made 48 total saves and kept three clean sheets on the season, against Stonehill, Le Moyne and Assumption.

Tirado started 16 matches for the Falcons this season and was one of four players to appear in all 17. His first career goal was one to remember, a 25-yard blast into the corner of the net against Southern Connecticut. He also scored in a win over Saint Anselm, and had the assist on Bentley's lone goal in a 1-0 win over Stonehill.
