GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – A late 88th minute goal by Adelphi's Diego Zuniga lifted the Panthers to a 1-0 victory over the Bentley men's soccer team Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 action.
The teams battled in a scoreless draw up until Zuniga's goal. Bentley was reduced to 10-men in the 78th minute after a red card, and fought down a man for 10 minutes until Zuniga's winner.
The win improves Adelphi's record to 10-5 overall and 9-3 in Northeast-10 play, while the Falcons drop to 7-6-1 overall and 6-5 in the Northeast-10.
Adelphi created more scoring chances on the afternoon outshooting Bentley 22-6, but only six of the shots went on net, with sophomore goalie Jack Blatchford (Douglas, Mass./Douglas) stopping five. Bentley put four shots on goal but all were stopped by Panthers goalie Ahmad Salamah.
The Falcons will attempt to snap its two-match losing streak when they host Saint Anselm on Tuesday afternoon in its final home match of the season.
