Bentley Falls to No. 10 Southern New Hampshire 4-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Facing a top-10 team in Division II for the second straight time, the Bentley men's soccer team came up short in a 4-1 defeat to No. 10 Southern New Hampshire Tuesday night in a Northeast-10 match.

The Penmen (13-1-0, 11-0-0 NE-10) came into the match with a six point lead atop the Northeast-10 standings and on a 12-match winning streak. Bentley (7-5-1, 6-4-0 NE-10) had won six of its last seven conference matches before tonight.

Junior Mohamed Toufik scored two first half goals for the Penmen in the 33rd and 40th minutes to give them a 2-0 lead at halftime. He first connected on a long-range shot after taking a pass from senior Brian Francolini, then scored off a corner kick for his second goal a little over eight minutes later.

Bentley briefly got back in the match when sophomore Marty Ryan (Albany, N.Y./Albany) scored for the second straight match, striking from 25 yards away in the 83rd minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.

However, the Penmen responded less than a minute later as Pierre Omanga, the NE-10's leading goal scorer, netted his 14th of the season to restore the home side's two-goal lead. Francolini added Southern's fourth goal of the night in the 90th minute to finish the scoring.

The Falcons will look to get back on track on Saturday when they travel to face Adelphi in just the second ever meeting between the two programs and first since 1975.
