Bentley Rallies Past Stonehill for 3-2 Victory

EASTON, Mass. – Second half goals from senior Brennan DaCosta (San Diego, Calif./Westview) and freshman Joe Avery (Schenectady, N.Y./Mohonasen) helped Bentley overcome a 2-1 deficit to post a 3-2 victory over Stonehill in the Northeast-10 opener for both teams.

Two first half goals from Stonehill's Tyler Brondyk in the 20th and 27th minutes had given the hosts a 2-1 lead, and canceled out Cody Osgood's (Harvard, Mass./The Bromfield School) 11th minute goal which had given Bentley an early lead.

But DaCosta tied the match up with a penalty kick in the 51st minute, beating Stonehill goalie Adam Colella for his second goal of the young season.

Just past the hour mark it was Avery with his first career goal off of a set piece that put the Falcons in front. Sophomore Andrew Fenn (Fort Collins, Co./Rocky Mountain) swung in a free kick, with Avery in the right place to shoot in the rebound.

Bentley was then able to hang on the rest of the way to claim its second win of the year and improve to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the NE-10. The Skyhawks fall to 1-1-1 overall and 0-1 in the NE-10.

The Falcons are back in action when they travel to Miami to take on Barry University Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
