Astarita, Hurley and Taddeo Earn All-Academic Honors from NEILA

Waltham, Mass. – Recent Bentley University graduates Alex Astarita (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin), Sam Hurley (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) and Jack Taddeo (Penfield, Mass./Penfield) have each earned All-Academic honors from the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, it was announced Tuesday.

Criteria for the NEILA All-Academic team is the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and have been nominated for at least All-Conference selection.

All three served as team captains for the Bentley men's lacrosse team this past year and helped lead the Falcons to a successful season that saw them reach the NE10 playoffs and achieve a final ranking of 18th in the USILA Coaches Poll.

Astarita majored in corporate finance and accounting and was one of Bentley's top offensive players, as he led the squad in each of goals (29), assists (13) and points (42). Earlier this month he was named second team All-New England as an attacker by the NEILA.

Astarita finished his career with 124 points, 11th most in program history, and with 86 goals which is tied for the 8th most in school history. He played in 52 career games.

Hurley majored in economics-finance and earned three straight All-New England selections as a midfielder, including first team selections the past two seasons. He was 4th on the team with 16 goals and 2nd in assists with 12, which gave him 28 points on the season, tied for 3rd on the team. He finished his career with 105 points, 14th most in program history, and with 63 goals, good for 13th most all-time. He played in all 53 games Bentley played in his four year career.

Taddeo majored in corporate finance and accounting and was a standout defender. He was named first team All-New England for his senior year after he picked up 20 ground balls and had six caused turnovers. He finished his career with 42 games played, 29 starts, 67 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers.

Also an excellent student, Taddeo was named NE10 Men's Lacrosse All-Academic team for the 2018 season.
