Waltham, Mass. – Matt Brooks (Brunswick, Maine/Phillips Exeter) and Kris Campbell (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) scored goals late in the 4^th quarter to break an 8-8 tie to lift the Bentley men's lacrosse team to a 10-8 victory over No. 20 ranked Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon.

Brooks' goal with 3:29 left in the 4^th broke an 8-8 tie, and Campbell's goal with 2:15 remaining was the insurance as the Falcons went on to win 10-8, their 5^th straight victory and 2^nd in a row over a ranked team.

Bentley is now 8-2 overall and 6-2 NE10, and the win clinched a playoff spot.

It was a close game the whole way, with the largest lead being 7-4 for Bentley in the 2^nd quarter.

The teams combined for nine goals in the 1^st quarter with Bentley ahead 5-4. Senior Alex Astarita (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin) had two goals in the quarter, and seniors Scott Carvalho (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) and Sam Hurley (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) and sophomore Joey Tesoriero (Huntington Station, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) each scored once.

The scoring slowed down from that point. Bentley scored the first two goals of the 2^nd quarter, from Campbell at 11:29 and Tesoriero just 35 seconds later to give them the 7-4 lead. Saint Anselm though fought back with goals by senior Anthony Busconi at 6:02 and sophomore Ryan Richards at 3:06 to cut Bentley's lead to 7-6 at halftime.

Bentley scored the first goal of the 3^rd quarter, off the stick of Tesoriero for his 3rd of the afternoon, to give them an 8-6 lead 3:06 into the quarter. The Hawks went on to score twice in the 3^rd quarter to make it an 8-8 game. Sophomore Sean Tomaszewski's goal at 4:55 was the last goal by either team until Brooks broke the tie late in the 4^th.

Falcons goalie Mike Haggan (Braintree, Mass./BC High) made 11 saves to earn his 8^th win of the season.

Bentley will now go for its 6^th straight win on Tuesday night when they host Adelphi, which is currently ranked No. 1 in Division II.
