Sanford Earns NEILA All-Academic Honor

WALTHAM, Mass. – Recent graduate Matt Sanford (Stratham, N.H./Bow) of the Bentley University men's lacrosse team earned a place on the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Associations' All-Academic team for Division II for his work on the field and in the classroom this past year.

Sanford, who was a team captain for his senior season for the Falcons, was also recently named second team All-New England by the NEILA.

Nominees for the All-Academic team must have had a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and have been nominated for at least All-Conference selection.

On the field, Sanford had career highs in both goals (29) and points (38) this season. He led the Falcons in goals for the third straight season. Sanford scored multiple goals in 10 of Bentley's 13 games, which included a career high five against Southern New Hampshire on April 3rd.

The New Hampshire native finished his career with 120 points, which made him the first Bentley player since 2012 to surpass the century mark for career points.

In the classroom, Sanford was a finance major who earned a 3.41 GPA during the 2017-18 academic year.
