Saint Rose Scores Two Late Goals to Clip Bentley 10-9

ALBANY, N.Y. - Sophomore Matt Brooks (Brunswick, Maine/Philips Exeter) had a hat trick and two other players scored two goals, but Saint Rose scored two late goals in the fourth quarter for a 10-9 victory over Bentley University in a Northeast-10 matchup on Saturday.

The Falcons led 3-0 after the first quarter, but the Golden Knights scored five goals in the second quarter and three goals in the third to rally and lead 8-6 going into the final 15 minutes.

Bentley started the fourth quarter on fire with three unanswered goals to take a 9-8 lead. Midfielder Sam Hurley (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) started the run with a goal just 48 seconds into the quarter. Brooks then notched his third goal of the day at the 9:55 mark to tie the score 8-8.

Bentley's Nick Irby (Groton, Mass./Groton) won the ensuring face-off and Logan Walsh (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) scooped up the ground ball. On the trip down the field Walker Gautier (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) had a shot saved, and after a shot by Alex Astarita (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin) went wide, Gautier scored on the third opportunity of the possession to give them a 9-8 lead.

Saint Rose won the next face-off and drew a slashing penalty on its next possession for a man-up opportunity. The Knights cashed in in the penalty's final seconds from junior Evan Doherty to tie the game again 9-9 at the 6:12 mark.

The Knights then went ahead 10-9 at the 3:32 mark with a goal from Jack Pemrick after a clear attempt after a shot by Bentley's Matt Sanford (Stratham, N.H./Bow) was saved by Saint Rose's Liam Guiton on the previous possession.

Following Pemrick's goal, Bentley would only get one more possession the rest of the way, that resulted in a shot by senior Joe DiRaimo (Huntington, N.Y./John Glenn) getting blocked.

The Falcons fell to 1-3 overall and 0-2 NE10 with the defeat, while Saint Rose improved to 2-4 overall and 1-1 NE10. Bentley will look to bounce back on Wednesday night when they host Merrimack at 7:00 pm.
