Pace Pulls Away from Bentley in 2nd Half for 13-6 Victory

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – No. 6 ranked Pace rode a second half run to a 13-6 victory over No. 20 ranked Bentley on Wednesday night in a Northeast-10 collision.

The Setters, who have now won four games in a row, led just 4-3 at halftime, but held a 9-3 advantage in the 2nd half to pull away.

Bentley started strongly and led 3-2 after the first quarter on goals by Sam Hurley (Medfield, Mass./Medfield), Matt Sanford (Stratham, N.H./Bow) and Scott Carvalho (Wayland, Mass./Wayland). After Pace scored the game's first goal in a man-up situation from Kevin Vogelsong, Bentley reeled off three straight goals over a more than nine minute span. The run started with a goal by Hurley at 11:50, and saw Carvalho score the bookend goal at 2:05. Pace however, snapped the run with a man-down goal by Matthew Simone at 1:13.

Pace then scored the only two goals in the second quarter, which both came from attacker Joshua Kreitler at 7:15 and 2:36, to lead 4-3 at halftime.

Early in the 3rd quarter, freshman Matt Brooks (Brunswick, Maine/Phillips Exeter) answered a third straight goal by Kreitler for Bentley, before Pace scored two goals in a row. Bentley then answered with a goal by senior Elijah Morrissey (Rowley, Mass./Governor's Academy) at 6:06 to get to within 7-5. But Pace would start its 6-0 run with a goal by Ryan O'Hagan at 1:45, and Kreitler added his fourth goal with 39 seconds left to end the third quarter with a 9-5 lead.

Junior Chris Wiggins (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) got on the score sheet for Bentley in the fourth quarter with a goal at 7:19.

The Falcons fell to 5-5 overall and 4-4 in NE10 games. They get back on the field Saturday when they host Saint Anselm.
