Men’s Lacrosse Tabbed 5th in Northeast-10 Preseason Poll
WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley men's lacrosse team has been tabbed 5th in the Northeast-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll, it was announced on Thursday. The Falcons get their 2016 season underway on Saturday, March 5 at home against New York Tech.
Bentley received 71 points in the poll to check in in the 5th position in the 12 team poll. The top six teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the Northeast-10 Championship, which begins on May 3 with the quarterfinals. Le Moyne (118 points) topped the poll, followed by Adelphi (111), Merrimack (104) and Pace (89). Franklin Pierce (67) came in behind Bentley to round out the top six.
The Falcons, who also received votes in the initial USILA/Nike Division II Poll of the season, return six of their top 10 scorers from last season, led by senior Matt Brigham(Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey), who had 19 goals and 7 assists last season. While goalie Daniel Shaughnessy (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury), who started all 13 games last season, is back as well. Two defensemen, junior Connor Holbrook (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) and senior Nick Wells (Exeter, N.H./Governor's Academy), who started 13 and 10 games respectively last season, return as well, as does top face-off man Max Adler (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./NMH).
