Dente Named Northeast-10 Sport Excellence Award Winner for Men’s Lacrosse; Adler Named to All-Academic Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Former Bentley University attacker Matt Dente (Reading, Mass./Reading) has been selected as the 2015 Northeast-10 Conference Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence award recipient for men's lacrosse, the conference announced Tuesday.

Dente led the Falcons in goals (21) and points (27) in his senior season, setting career-highs for both of those categories in the process. He had four games with at least three goals scored, including a career-high four in an 11-7 win over Southern New Hampshire on April 7.

Dente also put up big numbers in the classroom with a 3.81 GPA this year. He graduated summa cum laude in May with a degree in corporate finance and accounting and a minor in actuarial studies. As a result of his success on and off the field, Dente was named to the Academic All-District 1 At-Large team for Division II by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in mid-May, in addition to receiving the Sport Excellence award from the NE-10.

The conference also announced Tuesday that Dente was selected to the Northeast-10 All-Academic team for the third straight season, and sophomore face-off man Max Adler (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./Northfield Mount Hermon) was named All-Academic as well. Adler, who was named first team All-New England by the NEILA in early May, was one of the top face-off men in Division II this season. He won 66 percent of his draws (124-188), sixth best in Division II, while posting a 3.56 GPA with a major in corporate finance and accounting.

A conference committee of Faculty Athletic Representatives and other athletic administrators select the premier scholar-athlete in each sport. Dente is the second Falcon of the 2014-15 athletic year to receive a Sport Excellence award, joining Keegan Hyland of the men's basketball team.
