Big First Half Propels Bentley Past AIC 16-3

WALTHAM, Mass. – An 11-0 first half propelled the Bentley men's lacrosse team to a 16-3 victory over visiting AIC in a Northeast-10 game on Saturday afternoon. 11 different players for the Falcons scored.

Bentley led 5-0 after the first quarter and tacked on six more in the second. They outshot the Yellow Jackets 25-3 in the first half. They led 2-0 after only three-plus minutes as Bobby Hinds (West Hartford, Conn./Conard) and Matt Brigham (Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey) found the back of the net.

Brigham, who had a game-high three goals, opened the second quarter scoring. His goal was followed by a strike from senior Cutler Dimond (Marblehead, Mass./Tabor) at the 12:17 mark. Dimond had a game-high five points on two goals and three assists. The second quarter scoring was closed by a man-up goal from freshman Nick Buttafuoco (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) with 3:05 remaining.

Senior Matt Dente (Reading, Mass./Reading) added his team-leading 14th goal of the year in the second quarter as well.

Each team scored once in the third quarter, with Bentley's goal coming from midfielder Bob Coleman (Southington, Conn./Xavier) at the 7:47 mark.

Buttafuoco's second man-up goal of the game started the fourth quarter scoring. Junior Mike Astarita (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Guertin) scored twice for Bentley in the closing minutes.

The Falcons improve to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in the Northeast-10. They are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Southern New Hampshire.
