Sweeney, Dente Earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Honor

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University men's lacrosse players Billy Sweeney (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and Matt Dente (Reading, Mass./Reading) have been named to the Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference team for the spring season.

Sweeney and Dente are two of 10 student-athletes that were selected to the men's lacrosse Academic All-Conference team. To qualify a student-athlete must either be a starter or significant contributor and have achieved at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.

Sweeney, a 6-2 defenseman, wrapped up his Bentley career this past spring having started all 41 games over the last three seasons. An accountancy major, Sweeney led the team in caused turnovers (19) this season and helped the Falcons post the third lowest team goals against average (8.20) in the NE-10. His stellar play as a senior saw him also be named second team All-NE-10, Division II All-New England by the NEILA and NEILA Division II All-Academic.

Dente is a junior attack majoring in corporate finance and accounting. He played in all 15 games and scored five goals, including two in a win over Assumption April 12. Dente also had goals in wins over Saint Michael's April 1 and Saint Rose April 5.

Both players helped the Falcons to a 7-4 record in the NE-10 and a berth in the conference playoffs, where they defeated Southern New Hampshire in the first round 8-7 before falling to eventual champions Adelphi in the semifinals.
