Men’s Lacrosse Picked Fourth in Preseason Northeast-10 Coaches Poll

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University men's lacrosse team was picked fourth in the preseason Northeast-10 poll as voted on by the league's head coaches, the league announced Monday.

The Falcons, who were 9-5 overall and tied for third in the NE-10 with a 7-3 conference record a season ago, received 75 points. Three-time defending regular season champions Le Moyne were selected first with 98 points and eight of the 11 first place votes. Last season's tournament champions, Merrimack, were picked second with 92 points and two first place votes. Adelphi came in third with 81 points and one first place vote.

Pace finished with 58 points to round out the top-five, and the Setters were followed by Saint Michael's, Saint Anselm, Southern New Hampshire, Franklin Pierce, Assumption and AIC.

Three All-Conference players, including two All-Americans, were lost to graduation from last year's squad, but 19th year head coach Jim Murphy returns four starters and a number of key reserves. Junior attack Brendan Grant (Walpole, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) is the top returning scorer after putting up 37 points (25g, 12a) in 2010.

The Falcons will open the season at home against C.W. Post on March 12.
