Four Different Goal Scorers and Kirk Lead Bentley Past Holy Cross 4-1 for Sweep

Waltham, Mass. – Four different players lit the lamp and sophomore goalie Fraser Kirk (Burlington, Ontario) made 33 saves as Bentley defeated Holy Cross 4-1 on Saturday night for a series sweep.

The Falcons (6-8, 4-7 AHA) won all three games this week in a span of just five days.

Sophomore Jakov Novak (Windsor, Ontario) scored the first goal of the game in the 1st period to give Bentley the lead. The Falcons then tacked on three goals in the 2nd period.

The first two goals of the period came just 55 seconds apart, scored by freshman Matt Gosiewski (Wilton, Conn.) and senior Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec), to give Bentley a 3-0 lead at the 5:45 mark.

Sophomore forward Dylan Pitera (Culver, Indiana) scored with 2:50 left in the frame for a 4-0 lead.

Gosiewski helped set up the first goal with a drive into the offensive zone. With Novak trailing behind him, Gosiewski dropped a pass to his forehand side, and a quick shot from the left face-off circle got through goalie Matt Radomsky's legs for the goal.

Gosiewski then scored himself in the 2nd period, his 2nd goal of the week and 5th of the season, with a nice deke move around goaltender Erik Gordon to make it 2-0 at 4:50. Just 55 seconds later it was 3-0 when Desbiens scored with a quick shot past Gordon's glove from the right face-off circle after he took a pass from Novak along the boards.

It became 4-0 for Bentley on Pitera's 1st goal of the season at the 17:10 mark. Gordon saved an initial shot by Lucas Vanroboys (Thamesville, Ontario) on the doorstep, but Pitera was there to score off the rebound.

Kirk meanwhile made double-digit saves in each period, including 14 in the 3rd period. He's won three starts in a row and is now 4-1 on the season.

Bentley will look to keep its winning streak going next weekend when they visit Army West Point for a series beginning next Friday night.
