Bentley Drops the Puck on 2019-20 Season This Weekend at Robert Morris

Setting the Stage: Bentley gets its 2019-20 season started this weekend on the road when they face a familiar opponent in the Robert Morris Colonials. Friday's game gets underway at 7:05 pm and Saturday's game is a 5:05 start. Both games can be seen on Atlantic Hockey's new streaming partner, FloHockey.

Bentley was picked in a tie for 3rd in the Atlantic Hockey preseason poll and Robert Morris was tabbed seventh.

How to Watch: The new streaming partner of Atlantic Hockey this season is FloHockey. All Bentley games in Atlantic Hockey and all home games can be seen on FloHockey.

The Matchup: While this will be Bentley's opening weekend, RMU was in action last weekend when they hosted Michigan Tech for two games and dropped both, by scores of 2-1 and 7-0.

Familiar Foes: These two teams have seen quite a lot of each other over the last four seasons. They have played in three of the last four playoffs and have played a total of 21 games. RMU has a slight edge at 10-9-2, despite 14 of the games being played in Pittsburgh. The Falcons have won two straight and three of four played in the Steel City, including a sweep last regular season.

Season Openers: Bentley last opened on the road for the 2016-17 season against New Hampshire and came away with a 5-1 victory. The last time Bentley opened with a conference game was 2017-18 with a 3-3 tie against AIC.

Returning Firepower: The Falcons return seven of their top 10 point producers and eight of the top 10 goal scorers from last season. Junior Luke Santerno led the team in both assists (25) and points (36) last season, and senior Jonathan Desbiens led with 15 goals. Santerno (11 goals) and junior Brendan Hamblet (11 goals) are team's other returning double-digit goal scorers.

Experience Between the Pipes: Bentley senior goalie Aidan Pelino enters the season with 72 career starts. That is the most among any goalie in Atlantic Hockey. Pelino was named second team All-Atlantic Hockey last season after he posted a 2.54 GAA and won 16 games.

Up Next: Bentley will play its home opener next Friday against the UNH Wildcats at 7:05 pm.
