Addamo Scores in OT to Give RMU 3-2 Win over Bentley in Game Three

Waltham, Mass. – In a game that was nip and tuck all the way and encapsulated playoff hockey, Robert Morris' Justin Addamo scored 16:04 into overtime to give the Colonials a 3-2 win over Bentley in game three of the Atlantic Hockey quarterfinals to clinch the series.

All three games in the series were decided by late goals and couldn't have been any closer the whole way.

The deciding goal by Addamo came off a face-off win by Luke Lynch, who pushed the puck ahead for Addamo, which saw him score from the left wing.

Just minutes before the goal, Falcons goaltender Aidan Pelino (Oakville, Ontario) robbed RMU's Nick Prkusic with a glove save off a one-timer to keep the game going.

Pelino finished the night with 24 saves, while his counterpart Francis Marotte made 32 saves as both goalies logged over 76 minutes on the ice.

Bentley got on the board first, on freshman Jakov Novak's (Windsor, Ontario) 3rd goal of the series. Off a face-off win in the offensive zone, defenseman Connor Brassard (Fitchburg, Mass.) and right winger Michael Zuffante (Bloomingdale, Ill.) both had a shot on net that were saved by Marotte, but Novak jammed in the rebound off Zuffante's shot for a 1-0 lead 3:05 into the 2nd period.

Bentley appeared to have gone ahead 2-0 at the 10:51 mark from Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec), but instead was called for goalie interference and the goal was waved off.

That led to RMU tying it shortly after, with Lynch redirecting a pass in front of the net from left winger Alex Tonge. That made it 1-1 at 12:22.

Bentley took a 2-1 lead 1:39 into the 3rd period on sophomore Brendan Hamblet's (Hopkinton, Mass.) 11th goal of the year. Desbiens chased down a loose puck behind the net and fed Drew Callin (Middleton, Wisc.), who quickly found Hamblet in front for the goal.

But just 31 seconds later, RMU tied it up on a goal by center Aidan Spellacy.

That was the final goal for almost 34 minutes of game time until Addamo's winner in OT.

RMU advances on to the Atlantic Hockey semifinals, where they will be joined by Niagara, RIT and either AIC and or Army. Bentley's season comes to an end at 17-15-5.

The game caps the careers for seniors Jake Bryniarksi, Drew Callin, Cody DePourcq, Tanner Jago and Alexey Solovyev. Jago finished 2nd all-time in games played at 151.
