Bentley, Army Tie 3-3; Falcons Finish Regular Season 2nd in Atlantic Hockey

West Point, N.Y. – Senior goalie Jake Bryniarski (Rochester, N.Y.) made 27 saves for Bentley as the Falcons and Army West Point skated to a 3-3 tie on Saturday night in the final game of the regular season. Bentley finishes in second place in the Atlantic Hockey standings with 34 points.

Bentley already clinched home-ice for the quarterfinals with last night's 2-1 win. They finish the regular season with a 15-9-4 AHA record for 34 points, its second highest points total for a regular season behind 36 points in the 2013-14 season. Overall they finish the regular season 16-13-5.

Bryniarski was called into action early and often as he made 14 saves in the first period.

Army though led it 1-0 after the first, but just 49 seconds into the 2nd period Bentley tied it on a power play, 5-on-3 goal by defenseman Tanner Jago (Brandon, Manitoba) on a slap shot blast from the blue line. The goal was his 9th of the season.

Army took the lead back at 7:13 of the 2nd period on a power play goal by forward Mason Krueger, his 2nd goal of the night.

The score stayed that way into the 3rd period, but Bentley erased that deficit and went ahead 3-2 with two goals in the span of just 44 seconds. Junior Ryner Gorowsky (Lino Lakes, Minn.) scored at 5:31 after he finished off a break down the ice. Then just moments later junior Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec) fired in his 15th goal of the season from the left wing.

Army though got the tying goal from defenseman Dalton MacAfee at the 11:12 mark.

Bryniarski made three saves in overtime for Bentley to keep the game tied.

Bentley will now be the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Hockey playoffs and will host a quarterfinal series at Bentley Arena on March 15-17. They will find out their opponents after next weekend's first round series.

The other four teams to earn a bye besides Bentley are AIC, Air Force, Sacred Heart and RIT.
