Bentley Sweeps Air Force for 5th Straight Win, 9th Game Unbeaten

Waltham, Mass. – Bentley completed the series sweep of Air Force on Saturday night with a 4-0 shutout at Bentley Arena. The win marked the 5th in the row for the Falcons, and extended their unbeaten streak to nine games.

Bentley now owns the nation's longest unbeaten streak at nine games. The team has gone 7-0-2 in that span, since Jan. 5. On the season Bentley is now 12-11-3 overall and 11-7-2 in Atlantic Hockey games.

Junior goalie Aidan Pelino (Oakville, Ontario) turned away 20 shots for the shutout. Among the goal scorers was junior Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec), his 6th straight game with a goal. Sophomore Luke Santerno (Smithers, B.C.) had one goal and one assist, and junior Ryner Gorowsky (Lino Lakes, Minn.) had two assists.

Freshman defenseman Luke Orysiuk (Edmonton, Alberta) got the scoring started at 11:31 of the 1st period. Orysiuk finished off a play that started in the defensive zone by Santerno with a steal, saw the puck hit Gorowsky and Will Garin (Mound, Minn.), and finished with Santerno laying off a pass to Orysiuk for the goal.

Santerno had the only goal of the 2nd period, his 9th of the season, at the 13:02 mark. Garin had the primary assist with a pass to Santerno down low, who hesitated and beat Air Force goalie Billy Christopoulos top shelf for a 2-0 lead.

Bentley held that two goal deep into the 3rd period, until a highlight reel goal by Desbiens with 4:29 remaining opened up a 3-0 lead. A saucer pass by Drew Callin (Middleton, Wisc.) over to Desbiens saw him deke around Christopoulos for the goal, his 11th of the year.

Defenseman Matt Lombardozzi (Leominster, Mass.) then added an empty-net goal with 1:51 remaining after he flipped a shot from almost the other end of the ice.

Bentley has now moved up to 3rd in the Atlantic Hockey standings with its school record tying unbeaten streak. They'll look to keep it going next Friday night when they open a series against Canisius at Bentley Arena.
