Buffalo, N.Y. – Junior Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec) and Brendan Hamblet (Hopkinton, Mass.) combined on a spectacular goal in the 3^rd period to help Bentley University to a 4-2 win at Canisius at the HarborCenter on Friday night.

Bentley is now unbeaten in its last six games at 4-0-2, and improved its Atlantic Hockey record to 8-7-2 on the season.

Falcons goalie Aidan Pelino (Oakville, Ontario) made 32 stops in the win and also had an assist. Senior defenseman Tanner Jago (Brandon, Manitoba) and freshman Jakov Novak (Windsor, Ontario) scored power play goals in the 2^nd period, and senior Drew Callin (Middleton, Wisc.) finished it with an empty goal late in the 3^rd.

With Bentley leading 2-1 with eight minutes gone in the 3^rd period, Hamblet and Desbiens combined to put Bentley up by two goals. Hamblet threaded a pass from Bentley's defensive zone ahead to Desbiens who got behind the Canisius defense and stayed on sides. Desbiens then beat Canisius goalie Blake Weyrick with a wrist shot for his 8^th goal of the season.

Bentley held the 3-1 lead for the next 10 minutes to get under the 2:00 minute mark. Weyrick was pulled for an extra-attacker, and Canisius converted with a goal from Matt Hoover with 1:32 left to make it a 3-2 game.

The Falcons though secured the win on Callin's empty-net goal with 1:12 left, which Pelino got the assist on.

The first period was scoreless, but Bentley scored the game's first goal with 13:13 left in the 2^nd period. Jago scored it, his 6^th of the season, with Bentley on a 5-on-3 advantage. Luke Santerno (Smithers, B.C.) passed to Jago from the left corner to the slot, where Jago one-timed Santerno's pass for the goal.

Canisius tied it on a goal by Hoover a little less than four minutes later, but Bentley went back ahead on a power play goal by Novak with 52 seconds left in the period. Callin sent the puck in from blue line towards traffic in front of the net. Santerno played the puck over to Novak, who finished it off in front to give Bentley a 2-1 lead just before the end of the 2^nd frame.

Bentley will now go for the series sweep tomorrow, with the game getting underway at 4:35 pm.
