Waltham, Mass. – The Bentley hockey team defeated RIT 5-2 on Saturday night at Bentley Arena behind five different goal scorers. The Falcons have now gone five games unbeaten and are 3-0-2 during the streak.

Luke Santerno (Smithers, B.C.), Cody DePourcq (Penticton, B.C.) and Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec) scored to stake Bentley to a 3-0 lead after two periods.

RIT fought back with two goals in the first half of the 3^rd period, but Falcons freshman Dylan Pitera (Culver, Indiana) scored a big goal with 4:32 remaining to give Bentley a 4-2 lead, and sophomore Brendan Hamblet (Hopkinton, Mass.) sealed the win with an empty-net goal.

RIT cut into Bentley's lead in the 3^rd frame with goals by Will Calverley at 3:54 and Adam Brubacher, on the power play at 9:38, but Pitera ripped in his 3^rd goal of the season to give the Falcons breathing room. Brendan Walkom (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Jakov Novak (Windsor, Ontario) played the initial passes along the left hand boards, before Novak backhanded a pass to Pitera in the left face-off circle. Pitera then one-timed his shot past RIT goalie Logan Drackett to put Bentley up 4-2.

The Tigers pulled Drackett with about 2:30 remaining, and went up two men after a Bentley penalty, but the Falcons were able to finish it off when Drew Callin (Middleton, Wisc.) and Hamblet combined on the empty-net goal.

Bentley scored the only goal of the 1^st period as Santerno fired in his 7^th of the season. RIT had been called for a slashing penalty, which set up a face-off in Bentley's offensive zone, on the right face-off circle. Callin took the draw for Bentley right after the penalty was called, and won it and played the puck back to Santerno. The sophomore then roofed his shot past Drackett to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead with 4:42 remaining in the period.

The Falcons added to their lead with two second period goals, with the tallies coming from DePourcq and Desbiens. DePourcq's goal, his first of the season at the 5:10 mark, came after he batted a deflected puck out of the air after a pass from Jake Kauppila (Gurnee, Ill,).

Desbiens then gave Bentley a 3-0 lead at 12:39 with his second goal of the weekend. Defenseman Tanner Jago (Brandon, Manitoba) first passed to Hamblet behind the net, and a through the legs pass by Hamblet found Desbiens near the net for the goal.

Falcons goalie Aidan Pelino (Oakville, Ontario) made 24 saves to earn the win in goal.

Bentley improved to 7-7-2 in Atlantic Hockey games with the win. They'll return to the ice next Friday night at Canisius in the first game of a weekend series.
