Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Junior goalie Aidan Pelino (Oakville, Ontario) made 23 saves, and four different players scored, as Bentley University defeated Boston College 4-2 on Friday afternoon at Conte Forum in the first ever meeting between the two programs.

"I thought we came out a little slow, but we were lucky enough that Aidan Pelino did a great job in the 1^st period," said head coach Ryan Soderquist following the win. "We were able to come back and regroup, good teams come back and regroup, and that 2^nd period was one of our better periods of the year." It kind of changed the tides a bit, got us some confidence and momentum. From there on out I thought our guys played tremendously hard and earned the win."

The first period was scoreless as the Eagles held a seven shot advantage in the first 20 minutes. But Pelino stood out with 10 saves and penalty kill went 2-2.

The 2^nd period was all Falcons. They outshot the Eagles 13-4 and received power play goals from Tanner Jago (Brandon, Manitoba) and Will Garin (Mound, Minn.). Jago scored at the 6:57 mark, 35 seconds into a penalty on BC for slashing, with a shot from the left point that took a deflection in to give Bentley a 1-0 lead.

Garin then gave Bentley a 2-0 lead with just 1:00 remaining in the period with another power play goal. This one came as Garin snapped off a shot in the slot to beat goalie Joe Woll to the glove side to give Bentley a two goal lead going into the 3^rd period.

In between Jago and Garin's goals, Bentley had a couple of other good scoring chances in the 2^nd period. Sophomore Brendan Hamblet (Hopkinton, Mass.) had a short-handed chance from close range denied by Woll, and freshman Jakov Novak (Windsor, Ontario) and junior Ryner Gorowsky (Lino Lakes, Min.) had two chances from close range back to back that were saved by Woll with seven minutes remaining.

Early in the 3^rd period, the first goal of the season by defenseman Matt Lombardozzi (Leominster, Mass./Carleton Place) gave Bentley a 3-0 lead. Junior Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec) won a battle along the wall and played the puck back to Lombardozzi, who was positioned just in front of the blue line on the left hand side. He teed up a shot that he blasted past Woll to the top shelf to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead with 17:05 remaining.

BC finally broke up the shutout and got on the board with a power play goal from defenseman Michael Kim with 11:01 left in the game, on a one-timer from the top of the point, with the pass from sophomore forward Logan Hutsko.

Trailing 3-1 in the final minutes, the Eagles pulled Woll for an extra-attacker with 2:37 remaining, and the move paid off as right wing Oliver Wahlstrom scored from close range after an initial save by Pelino to make it a 3-2 game with 1:31 to play.

Woll briefly came back on for the ensuing face-off, but went back to the bench for the final stretch. With the puck in the neutral zone, junior Jake Kauppila (Gurnee, Ill.) jumped on it and fired it into the empty-net to seal the 4-2 win.

Pelino finished up with 23 saves to earn the win, while Bentley improved to 4-7-1 on the season and ended BC's unbeaten streak at four. It's the 9^th time since the 2008-09 season Bentley has beaten a team from Hockey East.

They return to Atlantic Hockey play and will look for a 3^rd win in a row tomorrow night at Holy Cross.
