USAFA, Colo. – Air Force won its second game of the weekend with a 4-1 victory over Bentley on Saturday night at Cadet Ice Arena.
The Falcons scored first on a goal by sophomore Brendan Hamblet (Hopkinton, Mass.) with 3:11 remaining in the 1st period. Junior Jake Kauppila (Gurnee, Ill.) got the play started with a drive in on net down the right side with Hamblet trailing. Kauppila dropped the puck off to Hamblet, who buried a shot past Air Force goalie Zach LaRocque to give Bentley a 1-0 lead.
Air Force though responded a little over a minute later on a goal by senior Evan Giesler to the score 1-1 going into the second period.
Air Force got the only goal of the second period, from junior Matt Pulver at the 8:42 mark.
Air Force turned its lead into a two goal cushion 5:35 into the third period after a goal by freshman Kieran Durgan. An empty net goal by Kyle Haak with 52 seconds left finished the scoring.
The win is the 5th in a row for Air Force. Bentley will return home to face Army West Point at Bentley Arena next weekend.
