Waltham, Mass. – Three different players scored two goals and sophomore center Luke Santerno (Smithers, B.C.) had four assists as the Bentley hockey team lit the lamp seven times in a 7-4 victory over Holy Cross at Bentley Arena on Friday night.

Freshmen Jakov Novak (Windsor, Ontario) and Will Garin (Mound, Minn.) each scored twice for their first two Bentley goals, while junior Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec) had two tallies as well, the first and last goals of the game.

After a 1-1 first period, the teams combined for eight goals in the 2^nd period.

With Bentley trailing 2-1 after an early Holy Cross goal in the period, freshman Dylan Pitera (Culver, Indiana) scored his first career goal with a shot from long distance, from behind the right face-off circle, that got through traffic in front of the net to tie score with 3:07 played.

That was just the start of the scoring. Garin fired in his first goal of the night with a hard wrist shot from the slot after taking a drop pass from Santerno that went top shelf for a 3-2 lead at 5:38.

Holy Cross tied it at 3-3 on defenseman Frank Boie's second goal of the period. But then Bentley went to work on the power play, as their next three goals were scored on the man-advantage.

A sharp pass from the point by defenseman Connor Brassard (Fitchburg, Mass.) to Garin down low gave Bentley a 4-3 lead just past the halfway point of the period.

Novak then scored twice in the final 3:40 of the period with Santerno setting him up for both goals. The first was with a pass from behind the net for a finish by Novak from close range to give Bentley a 5-3 lead. The second was with a pass from the right point to Novak in the slot for a redirect to make it 6-4 to close out the period.

Desbiens added an empty net goal with 47 seconds remaining to finish out the scoring, as Bentley secured the 7-4 win.

The Falcons will go for their second win of the weekend tomorrow night at Bentley Arena when they host UMass Lowell.
