Santerno Repeats as Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Month

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's Luke Santerno (Smithers, B.C.) has claimed Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Month honors for the second straight month. He tallied five goals and two assists for seven points in 10 January games.

Santerno, who was also named Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, has four goals in the last three games. He had one goal in each game last weekend against Canisius, including an early goal in the second period of Saturday's 3-2 win. Two weekends ago against Robert Morris, he scored twice in a 3-3 tie, and had the tying goal with 1:21 left in regulation to force overtime.

The British Columbia native was also named Rookie of the Month for December after he had two goals and four assists in three games, all Bentley wins, which extended the team's winning streak to six.

On the season, Santerno is tied for the team lead in points (21) with junior Drew Callin, and is tied for the team lead in goals (9) with senior Kyle Schmidt. In Atlantic Hockey, he is tied for the most points among freshmen, and nationally, is averaging the seventh most points per game among freshmen (0.84).

Santerno and the Falcons take the ice again this weekend at RIT, Bentley's final road games of the regular season.
