WATERTOWN, Mass. – Sacred Heart scored twice in the first and second periods en route to clipping the Bentley hockey team 4-2 Tuesday night at the JAR in Atlantic Hockey action.

Bentley held a 42-26 edge in shots, but it was Sacred Heart that took better advantage of its shots on goal to claim the road win. For the Falcons, senior Matt Sieckhaus (St. Louis, Mo.) and sophomore Matt Riggleman (Milford, Mich.) had the goals. Freshman center Brendan Hamblet (Hopkinton, Mass.) had two assists.

Sacred Heart jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by defenseman Ruslan Rakhmatov at 4:31 and left wing Matt Tugnutt at 12:28.

Sieckhaus though halved the deficit for Bentley with his second goal in three games. He got the play started with a shot that was turned away by Sacred Heart goalie Brett Magnus. Sieckhaus then dug the puck out of the corner and fed Jake Kauppila (Gurnee, Ill) in the right corner, who then fed defenseman Connor Brassard (Fitchburg, Mass.) on the blue line. Brassard's slap shot deflected off Hamblet to Sieckhaus, who beat Magnus for the goal.

Sacred Heart though scored twice in the second period to stake themselves to a 4-1 lead.

Bentley got an early goal in the third period from Riggleman, shorthanded, 5:16 into the period, to cut the deficit to 4-2. With Sacred Heart on the power play and in possession of the puck in its offensive zone, Hamblet made a steal and fed Riggleman on a break into Bentley's offensive zone. Riggleman then beat Magnus with a wrist shot to the stick side for the goal, his fourth of the season and 16^th point.

Bentley though could not get any closer, as Sacred Heart was able to see out the game and hang on for the victory.

The Falcons dropped to 4-9-4 in Atlantic Hockey games, while Sacred Heart improved to 4-10-4.

Bentley will look to bounce back this weekend when they visit Robert Morris in Pittsburgh.
