WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point took the series finale from Bentley 4-0 on Saturday night. Left wing Michael Wilson had a hat trick for the Black Knights.
Wilson scored once in each period for Army, while the Black Knights had the edge on special teams on this night, as they went 2-3 on the power play and 6-6 on the penalty kill.
Wilson first scored 4:16 into the opening period on the power play to give Army the early lead. A second goal of the period was added late with an unassisted goal from Trevor Fidler to give the home side a 2-0 lead the first intermission.
Into the second period, the first 10 minutes passed without a goal. But at the exact 10 minute mark, Wilson notched his second goal of the night after he deflected a shot from defenseman Mike Preston that came from the right point as Wilson was positioned in the slot.
Wilson completed the hat trick with a goal at 12:47 of the third period as the Black Knights took a 4-0 lead.
Bentley ended the night with a 34-32 edge in shots, but could not get one past Army goalie Jared Dempsey. The Falcons' Atlantic Hockey record fell to 4-8-4, while the Black Knights improved to 7-7-4.
