Golfer Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS), swimmer Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Mahoney HS) and hockey standout Kyle Schmidt (Menomonee Falls, Wisc. /Sioux City Musketeers (USHL) were recently honored as the top senior-athletes in Bentley University’s Class of 2018.

Luke Santerno (Smithers, B.C.) and Kyle Schmidt (Menomonee Falls, Wisc.) scored third period power play goals to lift Bentley to a 4-3 victory over Robert Morris in game two of the Atlantic Hockey first round Saturday night. The win tied the series 1-1 and forces a decisive game three on Sunday night.

AIC’s Nicolas Luka scored the go-ahead goal 7:58 into the 3rd period as the Yellow Jackets clipped the Bentley hockey team 3-2 on Saturday night on Senior Night at Bentley Arena in the final regular season game of the season.

Sophomore Jake Kauppila (Gurnee, Ill.) scored the eventual game-winning goal 4:26 into the third period on a breakaway to snap a 2-2 tie, and the Bentley hockey team went on to defeat Army West Point 4-2 to claim its first win at Bentley Arena on Saturday night.

In tribute to Bob DeFelice’s 50 years as baseball coach and more than a quarter century as the director of athletics at Bentley University, the ice rink at the new Bentley Arena will be known as the “Coach DeFelice Ice Rink,” according to an announcement by University President Gloria Cordes Larson.
