WATERTOWN, Mass. – Holy Cross defenseman Johnny Coughlin scored with 1:50 left in overtime to give them a 5-4 victory over Bentley in a back and forth Atlantic Hockey game at the JAR on Friday night.

Two goals by senior Tyler Deresky (Flemington, N.J./Amarillo) tied the game twice for Bentley, once late in the 2^nd period to make it a 3-3 game, and again 3:21 into the 3^rd period to knot the game at four.

However, late in the extra session, Coughlin jammed in a loose puck in front of the net after a shot on net by left wing Mitch Collett was saved.

Bentley jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the opening 10:30 of the first period. Captain Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna) got the opening goal on the power play just 2:44 in, after Drew Callin (Middleton, Wisc./Janesville) fed him a nice centering pass from the left wing to the front of the net.

Freshman Ryner Gorowsky (Lino Lakes, Minn./Fairbanks) then made it 2-0 for Bentley just past the halfway point of the first. Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec/West Kelowna) had a shot on net saved by Holy Cross goalie Paul Berrafato, and Gorowsky was there to knock in the rebound.

Holy Cross though responded with three goals before the end of the period, with two coming from left wing Mike Barrett. His 2^nd goal of the period, with 1:05 left, gave the Crusaders a 3-2 lead going into the 2^nd period.

Late in the 2^nd period, Deresky knotted the game at three with a snipe from the right face-off circle. Sophomore Cody DePourcq (Penticton, B.C./Penticton) set the goal up with sharp pass from the left wing that threaded the needle to Deresky's stick, and the senior did the rest to beat Berrafato.

Just 48 seconds into the 3^rd period, Barrett scored again for a hat trick and to give Holy Cross a 4-3 lead. But at the 3:21 mark, Deresky beat Berrafato top shelf from a tight angle on the right wing for his 2^nd goal of the night, and to tie the game again at 4-4.

That was the last goal of the game until Coughlin's winner in overtime.

The defeat dropped Bentley's Atlantic Hockey record to 10-12-5, while the Crusaders improved to 11-10-6.
